“The American tech giant wants to invest $3.5 million in Pakistan,” said Senator Dr. Afnanullah Khan, a member of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Information Technology (IT) talking to The News.
He said similarly, the sale of 5G licence would bring in billions of dollars in foreign exchange, while heavy venture capital investment would also be made in the private sector.
سینیٹ کی قائمہ کمیٹی برائے انفارمیشن ٹیکنالوجی (آئی ٹی) کے رکن سینیٹر ڈاکٹر افنان اللہ خان نے دی نیوز سے گفتگو کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ امریکی ٹیکنالوجی کمپنی پاکستان میں 3.5 ملین ڈالر کی سرمایہ کاری کرنا چاہتی ہے۔
انہوں نے کہا کہ اسی طرح 5G لائسنس کی فروخت سے اربوں ڈالر کا زرمبادلہ حاصل ہوگا جبکہ نجی شعبے میں بھی بھاری سرمایہ کاری کی جائے گی۔
“With modest planning, Pakistan’s IT exports can easily be increased to $10 billion in the next few years,” the senator said.
He also shared with The News that South Korea had allocated a loan of $1 billion for Pakistan’s information technology sector at an interest rate of 0.1 percent only. “There are many areas in IT that Pakistan can focus on to emerge as an IT power in the region very soon.”
سینیٹر نے کہا کہ “معمولی منصوبہ بندی کے ساتھ، اگلے چند سالوں میں پاکستان کی آئی ٹی برآمدات کو باآسانی 10 بلین ڈالر تک بڑھایا جا سکتا ہے۔”
انہوں نے دی نیوز کے ساتھ یہ بھی شیئر کیا کہ جنوبی کوریا نے پاکستان کے انفارمیشن ٹیکنالوجی کے شعبے کے لیے صرف 0.1 فیصد کی شرح سود پر 1 بلین ڈالر کا قرضہ مختص کیا ہے۔ “آئی ٹی میں بہت سے ایسے شعبے ہیں جن پر پاکستان بہت جلد ایک آئی ٹی پاور کے طور پر ابھرنے کے لیے توجہ دے سکتا ہے۔”
The senator further said he was trying to bring revolution in the IT sector in the country along with the government as well as individually. “I want to use my higher education in the field of information technology for the benefit of the country.”
Senator Khan has a PhD in Information Technology from Oxford University and has experience in completing IT projects worth hundreds of millions of dollars. He said the leadership of PML-N were aware of the plight of the people of the country and wanted Pakistan to develop more in the IT sector because compared to any other sector investment in the IT sector paid off very quickly.

سینیٹر نے مزید کہا کہ وہ حکومت کے ساتھ ساتھ انفرادی طور پر ملک میں آئی ٹی کے شعبے میں انقلاب لانے کی کوشش کر رہے ہیں۔ ’’میں اپنی اعلیٰ تعلیم کو انفارمیشن ٹیکنالوجی کے شعبے میں ملک کے فائدے کے لیے استعمال کرنا چاہتا ہوں۔‘‘
سینیٹر خان نے آکسفورڈ یونیورسٹی سے انفارمیشن ٹیکنالوجی میں پی ایچ ڈی کی ہے اور انہیں کروڑوں ڈالر کے آئی ٹی پروجیکٹس کو مکمل کرنے کا تجربہ ہے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ مسلم لیگ (ن) کی قیادت ملک کے عوام کی حالت زار سے بخوبی آگاہ ہے اور چاہتی ہے کہ پاکستان آئی ٹی کے شعبے میں مزید ترقی کرے کیونکہ کسی بھی دوسرے شعبے کے مقابلے میں آئی ٹی کے شعبے میں سرمایہ کاری کا بہت جلد نتیجہ نکلتا ہے۔
He said that the export of IT manpower to a country like Japan was also an important project that was currently underway. “Therefore, every effort will be made to increase the focus of the government on this sector so that the obstacles in the way of foreign investment can be removed,” he added.
انہوں نے کہا کہ جاپان جیسے ملک کو آئی ٹی افرادی قوت کی برآمد بھی ایک اہم منصوبہ ہے جو اس وقت زیر تکمیل ہے۔ اس لیے حکومت کی توجہ اس شعبے پر بڑھانے کی ہر ممکن کوشش کی جائے گی تاکہ بیرونی سرمایہ کاری کی راہ میں حائل رکاوٹوں کو دور کیا جا سکے۔
